Versione italiana: server eMule

After last year’s Donkey Server shutdown, people began to worry about eMule’s fate: “Will eMule end?”. The first answer could be: use kad alone (serverless solution). All you need is a working nodes.dat file (just a nodes list) to do the initial bootstrap.
Otherwise, you can connect to safe ed2k servers from a genuine server.met file.
Note: in this how-to I’ll talk about aMule servers, but everything is valid for eMule also, which is very similar!
If you want to use ed2k servers, you may run into fake / spy servers. I recommend you to change aMule’s default servers settings right now!
Deactivate all checkboxes that begin with “update”; deactivate “Remove dead servers after” too.
Enable all checkboxes under “IP Filtering“; put the following address into the “URL” text area:
http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/level1.gz
Remove all ed2k servers in the list (right click over a server, and choose “Remove all servers”); type http://elboiler.p2pforum.it/server.met.gz in the address bar and update the server list, pressing the “play” button at the left.
That’s all, folks! ![]()
