Versione italiana: eMule 0.49b: supporto al Kad sempre migliore
I’ve said it before: the future for eMule is serverless. And the new eMule release (0.49b) demonstrates it: a bootstrap nodes.dat, kademlia obfuscation, better NAT handling… and much more! ;)

eMule

Kademlia protocol improvements

  • Kad obfuscation;
  • better NAT handling;
  • flood protections;
  • protection against routing attacks;
  • bootstrap nodes.dat distributed with the installation package: this helps users to start the Kad network without servers (serverless)

Internal chat improvements

  • CAPTCHA system to help reducing spam inside chat messages;
  • You can stay in contact with friend with dynamic IPS.

GUI improvements

  • new “Automatic search”: eMule automatically chooses between “Kad Search” or “Server Search” if one of the two network is disconnected, or if both networks are connected.
  • search filter for shared files;
  • search log;
  • Improved Windows Vista support.

New UPnP implementation

  • MiniUPnPLib library has been implemented, to improve UPnP with the newest routers (the Windows UPnP is used as a fallback);
  • MiniUPnPLib library can be disabled: you only need to add “DisableMiniUPNPLibImpl=1″ or “DisableWinServImpl=1″ into the “UPnP” section of the preferences.ini.

Considerations

Developers are betting on a serverless eMule, and that’s the smartest choice, because:

  • kad search works quite well now;
  • kad network is toughest than ed2k network: an eMule server can be easily turned off by Majors, to stop Kad they have to turn off every PC running eMule in the world. ;)
